Green is the in thing
Eco-friendly properties are all the rage in France at the moment. Whether you’re after a well-insulated ski chalet in the Pyrenees or a solar-powered barn in the south, you won’t have to look hard to find something
Among the most luxurious developments on the market is Les Hautes de Kerenoc-Pleumeur in Brittany. Located right on the region's famous pink-granite coast, each apartment is constructed with purely natural materials, and comes complete with a very eco-friendly planted grass roof.
But salving your conscience in this case doesn't involve forgoing the good things in life – Les Hautes de Kerenoc-Pleumeur apartments have access to an 18-hole golf-course, as well as 11 sandy beaches and two tennis courts. Apartments come with one, two or three bedrooms, and will set you back between £80,600 and £184,800.
If the ski-slopes are more your cup of tea than the beach, then why not take a look at Le Mourtis in the Pyrenees. Each chalet in the development is designed for a family of four of five, and is built with timber that meets the PEFC system for small forests.
Best of all, you can net yourself a two or three bedroom villa without breaking the bank – prices range between £161,300 and £174,700, and include up to two bathrooms plus large patio area.
