Providing 7,534 square foot of living space, the Italian property (pictured) is set over four levels and has three reception rooms, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The villa also has a basement measuring 2,300 square foot, which features a cinema, gaming room and wellness area, and a swimming pool set in mature landscaped grounds with views of Lake Como.

As well as high-tech features, such as automatic roller shutters, centralized suction, automatic irrigation system and a double alarm system, traditional Italian features of the property include marble and parquet flooring.

Trinidad Passerini, Managing Director of Precious Villas, which is marketing the £2.1 property, says: "Villa Green is a superb bespoke villa that epitomises the modern era we live in. Offering superb accommodation and far reaching views, I would not expect this property to remain on the market for long."

He continues: "The Italian property market has seen good increases in recent years particularly with new regions of southern Italy suddenly becoming available thanks to new airline routes."

If you are looking to purchase a more traditional Italian property - with a considerably more modest budget, Realpoint Property is currently marketing converted apartments and renovation projects in Tuscany.

A traditional Tuscan village farmhouse dating from circa 1300 has recently been converted into studio and one-bedroom apartments starting from £54,000. The owner has used handmade terracotta tiles and old timber to ensure the character of the farmhouse was not lost during renovation. The farmhouse is located in the village of Pietraviva, a one-hour-drive from Florence airport.

Eddy Crompton, Director of Realpoint Property, says: "The village of Pietraviva really is like something out of the middle ages. Areas such as this are still relatively new to investors from the UK. However we are seeing Italian property prices raise steadily here, partly because of the strict planning laws. Therefore, newly converted properties such as this and disused farmhouses ripe for renovation are the order of the day."

Realpoint Property is also marketing Tre Archi, a disused farmhouse and barn that boasts 100,000 square metres of land and borders the nature reserve of Monte Fuso. The Italian property, which is on the market at £97,500, is set over three floors and is structurally sound but would require a complete renovation.
