Cape Verde property the next big thing?

Cape Verde is being tipped by experts as the next big thing on the investment horizon. The archipelago enjoyed annual tourism gains of 15% between 2004 and 2007; and its economy is growing, despite the credit crunch

Cape Verde property the next big thing?

"The Cape Verde property market is still buoyant with numerous deals available for canny investors," says Adrian Lillywhite, Managing Director of property specialists Cape Verde Property. "It would be naïve to suggest that the islands will not be affected at all by the global credit crisis but with Cape Verde being recently given another positive evaluation by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and economic growth projected at 6 to 7 per cent in 2009 by Cape Verde's Finance Minister, the future is positive."

Steve Worboys of investment experts Experience International agrees. "We are only just beginning to see the tip of the property investment iceberg in Cape Verde," he says. "The predictions for Cape Verde property are exceptional both in terms of capital appreciation and year round rental returns."

Investor confidence in Cape Verde property has been increased by a new trade body set up to help improve the country's real estate sector. The body, Promitur, aims to help infrastructure developments, change the law in a way geared towards improving the investor market, and act as a central point for the overseas property industry and those looking to buy property in the country.

"The founding of Promitur is excellent news for Cape Verde, as it will not only aid those professionals in the property industry with government regulations, it will also act as a point of contact for those clients who are interested in buying Cape Verde property with any uncertainties they may have and improve the market overall with encouraging infrastructure improvements," says Lillywhite. "All in all, the new industry body should help promote Cape Verde as an excellent destination for property investment and one that is closely regulated and therefore secure."

If Cape Verde Property has attracted your interest, then Cape Verde Property is marketing apartments in Boa Vista from 50,000 euros. The Dunas Beach resort on Sal is also a good investment prospect, with a selection of villas and apartments currently in construction.

With frequent charter flights from the UK, a plethora of new developments going up around the archipelago and a tourism industry which is growing by the day, Cape Verde has all the right ingredients to become a rising property investment star.
